On December 17, the BETA Technology Center of the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia, is organizing the kick off meeting to promote the future Catalan Nutrient Platform.
The Catalan Nutrients Platform aims to bring together experts from different disciplines to join forces, share knowledge and converge towards improving the management of nutrients generated in the Catalan territory. Thus, the initiative, which has the support of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Catalan Government, aims to bring together all the actors in the value chain. This goal requires, thus, that the agricultural sector, the agri-food industry and the auxiliary industries work in line under these guidelines. In this sense, one of the key pieces that will intervene in the quality and sustainability of food production is the use that these sectors make of certain nutrients that could be considered strategic. In this line, though joining forces and addressing in a joint and consensual manner the platform aims to contribute to overcoming one of the main challenges of the Catalan territory, the sustainable management of nutrients, while promoting the circular bioeconomy in the agri-food systems of our country.
Launching of the Catalan Nutrient Platform will be held in Vic to learn about and chart the first steps towards the creation of this multi-sector platform. The event is aimed at professionals in the field of nutrient management, from sectors such as livestock and agriculture, to waste managers, producers of fertilizer products, technology suppliers, public administrations, research centers, universities and other related agents. The day will be an opportunity for all professionals in the sector to contribute to the creation of the platform, and to be able to jointly define its bases and its operation.
Novafert is contributing in this event through its Regional Action Plan developed for Catalonia region which is expected to be a relevant reference document to develop the overall strategic plan of the platform.
