Advancing circular fertilisers: solutions for a sustainable agriculture | final event

06/06/2025

On 5 June 2025, the Sea2Land & Novafert projects organised their Final Conference – a full day of policy debates, expert insights, and forward-thinking workshops on nutrient recycling and circular fertilisers.

Recycling organic waste like manure, fish by-products, and industrial by-products into circular fertilisers is key to reducing the EU’s reliance on imports and restoring soil health.

It was clear that trust was one of the key words during the panel discussion when representatives from governmental bodies and the scientific community talked about ways to leverage the uptake of new, circular fertilisers in European agriculture. This debate was complemented with cutting-edge R&I presentations and insights from SEA2LAND, Novafert & NUTRI-KNOW projects.

Innovation and policy can shape a greener agricultural system.

This closing event touched upon a variety of topics like:
✔️ the agronomic performance of circular fertilisers,
✔️ innovative production technologies
✔️ how to enhance market adoption and overcome barriers
✔️ the quality and safety assessment of circular fertilisers,
✔️ new business models for circular fertilisers

This event was part of the EU Green Week and supported by the ESNI Community, part of the Biorefine Cluster Europe.
